PROFILE

​Per Fredriksson’s research focuses on the institutional and political determinants of environmental policy outcomes. He has examined the effects of factors such as lobbying, corruption, democracy, collective action, political instability, federalism, electoral and governance systems, trade liberalization, party discipline, party affiliation, and gender on policy outcomes, including pollution taxes, abatement subsidies, Kyoto Protocol ratification, energy efficiency, refunded emissions payments, and pollution-control technology investments. Fredriksson has also studied the pollution haven hypothesis and the race-to-the-bottom hypothesis. Current interests include environmental federalism and the effects of electoral accountability and various political institutions on environmental policy outcomes.
