RFF Introduces New Website Highlighting Its Key Research Areas

WASHINGTON – Resources for the Future today announces a reconfigured website designed to improve access to RFF research and highlight its core research themes.

The new site—the first major overhaul of RFF’s web presence in seven years—incorporates an entirely upgraded interface with the internet. The site is built on a new content management system, which will provide an improved search capacity and video delivery system, and a faster response time.

“With this launch, we believe our service to visitors to the RFF site will be enhanced through a state-of-the-art web infrastructure,” says Peter Nelson, RFF director of communications.  “We feel that the new web design conveys the major thrusts of our work and gives a clearer picture of the intellectual and policy impact of our scholars.”

The new site also portrays a revised organizational structure, beginning on the home page with the five key focus areas of RFF research. These include Energy and Climate, Regulating Risks, Transportation and Urban Land, The Natural World, and Human Health.

The website, www.rff.org, is the result of a two-year initiative to examine best practices on the internet, particularly among leading independent research organizations. “Our hope is that the new site will compare favorably with our counterpart institutions,” says Nelson, “and most important will provide the user friendliness that our web visitors should expect.”

Scott Salyer, manager of internet services at RFF, and Nauman Memon, manager of information technology services, led the effort to launch the new site, assisted by web intern Nisha Krishnan and other members of the RFF communications staff. Technical and design assistance was provided by Forum One Communications in Alexandria, Virginia, and implementation services were managed by WatkinsIT in Bethesda, Maryland.
